Our ProgramsThe Rainbow Center offers several programs that are used throughout campus by students, staff and faculty. To read about our programs and ways to get involved, please click on the program name on the left side. A highlight of some of our programs: Among Men is a confidential support group run by students for men who like men or think they might. The Educational Workshop and Resource program works to create a safe and nurturing campus environment for all members of our community regardless of sexual orientation. The interactive workshops educate and train participants to become allies and advocates who take a proactive role bringing an end to the heterosexist culture that is dominant in today's society. The OutLOUD Music Series is a monthly concert series featuring a queer artist. The Pink Tongue is a newletter with a focus on the queer community. The Queer Resource and Response Network is a training for students, staff and faculty to educate on GLBT issues as well as making sure that resources are spread around campus. At the end you get a fabulous Safe Space sticker to display wherever you see fit. The Speakers Bureau organizes trained students to speak on a panel about GLBT issues in classrooms and dorms. The Speakers Bureau works on four basic principles: providing information; combating homophobia; creating visibility for the Rainbow Center and other GLBT resources; and communicating through dialogue and personal contact. Audiences love the personal contact and honesty of the speakers and the speakers love the opportunity to make a difference on campus. |
